The Institute of Traditional and Alternative Medicine (ITAM) of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) is immensely proud to celebrate the remarkable accomplishment of Mr. Richmond Arthur, who has successfully completed his PhD in Pharmacology at the Central University of Punjab, India, on an Indian Government Scholarship.
Mr. Arthur embarked on this academic journey in October 2021, taking some time off from the University to conduct a groundbreaking research on “Neuropharmacological Investigation of Artemisinin in Huntington's Disease.”
His dedication to research has been exceptional, resulting in three primary research articles and eight allied publications, culminating in 11 research papers in high-impact journals.
Beyond the colossal contribution to the scientific community, Mr. Arthur presented his research on prestigious international platforms, receiving multiple travel grants to showcase his work in India, Malaysia, and Thailand. His academic excellence was recognized with three Best Presentation awards, among other accolades.
On January 29, 2025, he achieved a historic milestone as the first-ever PhD graduate of the Department of Pharmacology at the Central University of Punjab and its first international PhD graduate. This achievement marks a significant milestone not only for Mr. Arthur but also for ITAM and UHAS as a whole.
As he returns to Ghana to advance his academic and research contributions, we celebrate his perseverance, hard work, and outstanding impact on the field of science.
