Strengthen ITAM’s position as a national and regional research hub by leading cutting-edge, evidence-based investigations into Traditional, Complementary, and Alternative Medicine (TCAM) practices and products.
- Promote the scientific validation, standardisation, and documentation of TCAM through multidisciplinary research, innovation, and collaborative projects.
- Develop and deliver accredited academic programmes, including certificate, diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) modules, to build a critical mass of TCAM professionals and researchers.
- Equip graduates with research-informed, industry-relevant skills to become competent, ethical, and integrative TCAM practitioners committed to professional excellence and lifelong learning.
- Enhance public trust and regulatory confidence in TCAM by translating research outcomes into safe, effective, and quality-assured health products and practices.
- Foster strategic partnerships with local and international institutions, regulatory bodies, and traditional health actors to expand research opportunities, policy engagement, and technical cooperation.
- Advocate for the proper integration of TCAM into Ghana’s healthcare system through data-driven policy inputs, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory alignment.
- Expand community outreach and participatory research to document indigenous knowledge, promote conservation of medicinal resources, and address local health priorities.
Establish and maintain the infrastructure, systems, and funding mechanisms necessary to support ITAM’s long-term research productivity, institutional sustainability, and national relevance.
