About us Menu
The Institute of Traditional and Alternative Medicine (ITAM) operates under a structured governance framework designed to ensure transparency, accountability, and strategic alignment with the broader mission of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS).
The Institute is led by the Director, who reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor of the University. The Director provides strategic leadership and oversees all academic, research, and administrative functions of the Institute. Supporting the Director are the Heads of Department and the central Laboratory Manager, each responsible for managing specific programmatic and operational areas. The Institute Administrator oversees the day-to-day administrative and logistical operations.
ITAM also benefits from the strategic oversight and policy direction of the Institute Board, which plays a key advisory role in guiding the Institute's vision, development, and alignment with national and institutional priorities.
To further enhance academic and professional excellence, the Institute Appointment and Promotion Review Committee (IAPRC) plays a critical role in reviewing and advising on matters related to faculty appointments, promotions, and career development within the Institute. The IAPRC operates in accordance with UHAS policies, ensuring transparency, meritocracy, and alignment with institutional standards.
Together, these governance structures ensure that ITAM remains focused, responsive, and aligned with its mission to advance Traditional, Complementary, and Alternative Medicine through education, research, and innovation.
